Letter From the President
I hope everyone is enjoying the start to a wonderful Tennessee winter where one weekend we have snow and ice and another we are out hiking wearing short sleeves!! You have to admit, we live in a pretty amazing state. We have mountains, rivers, many lakes, flat plains, and so many places just to get out and play. Tennessee is an amazing place to live! We truly are blessed and the spirit of the South is unmatched anywhere.
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Alice Kidwill and I am your 2017 President, of the Tennessee SGNA. I became involved with GI in 2003 and found that I really enjoy how much you can do for a patient without having to take them to surgery. Since then, I have been actively involved as a manager in the field of Gastroenterology and Pulmonology and have been passionate about it ever since!
If you love GI as much as I do, I ask that you encourage others within the GI field to look to SGNA as a resource and invite them to become an SGNA member. As you know, SGNA provides not only great resources and education, but amazing opportunities for nurses and associates to grow personally and professionally.
As I write this, we are hard at work planning our fall conference “Bridging the GI Gap” to be held in Chattanooga, TN for the first time in many years on October 13-15. I am excited to be part of hosting it in this amazing city. Please share any ideas for speakers and topics that you would like to see included as this is your conference! You can email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I’d also like to take this time to thank you for this opportunity and I look forward to serving you all in this roll. See you all in the fall!
